Hema Latha Krishna Nair

Hema Latha Krishna Nair is Head of Asia Pacific Center for Analytics in APU who has been working in education since 2008. In the past she had been leading and teaching modules such as Database programming, Artificial Intelligence Methods and Knowledge Discovery and Data Analytics. During 2002-2008, she was working as Software Engineer developing softwares’ for Malaysian Customs and Logistics Department , served at Panasonic AVC (M) Sdn Bhd under the Research and Development

She achieved her Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2002 and further pursued her Master’s Degree in Information technology Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2004 submitting industrial prototype dissertation on Data Analytics for a Manufacturing company. actively involved in research on Flood Mitigation and Water Channeling and has been awarded the Project Lead for the Ministry of Education Prototype Research Grant in 2014 for special Grant under Malaysian Disaster Management and Fundamental Research Grant from Ministry of Higher Education for Cancer Data Analytics Malaysia in 2016. Currently she is working on Disaster Management Analytics on Digital Twin Architectures.

Prof. Ir. Eug. Ing. Ts. Dr. Vinesh Tiruchelvam

Prof Dr Ir Vinesh Thiruchelvam completed his PhD at University Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysia. He is a Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), a Chartered Engineer via IET with the Engineering Council of UK and is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE-UK). He has managed smart city development international projects in India, Russia, Iran, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Malaysia for the property sector, ports, oil & gas and power plant industries.

Prof. Dr. Mandava Rajeswari

Prof Mandava’s academic background is in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. She has obtained her Master’s degree from IIT Kanpur, India and PhD from University of Wales, U. K. She served as an academic at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang for 36 years with last 10 years as a Professor at School of Computer Science. Prof Mandava has been a Professor at APU for the past 5 years.

Prof Mandava has taught a wide variety of courses in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics and Automation. She has supervised 4 Post doctoral, 14 PhD and several MSc (Research) students.

Prof Mandava’s research has spanned from machine vision, robotics, image analysis, medical imaging, Neuroimage analysis, artificial intelligence and data mining through several research projects. Her current focus is in Data Science with specific attention to Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Mandava has more than 170 publications to her credit in peer reviewed impact factor journals and top conferences. She served as an associate editor to IFAC journal and was on the review board of many journals and International conferences.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Raja Rajeswari

Assoc Prof Dr Raja Rajeswari completed her PhD at University Teknologi Malaysia, major in optimization and modeling. Her expertise and research focus in Predictive Analytics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Time Series and Forecasting. Her current research project focuses on predictive analytics and time series in healthcare.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. V. Sivakumar

Dr. V. Sivakumar is currently working as Associate Professor at School of Computing, Faculty of Computing and Engineering Technology in Asia Pacific University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He had served as Faculty at Senior Positions in Several Public Universities of India, Ethiopia & Libya with over 22 years of Experience. He bagged Gold Medal in his Master’s, and he has done Ph.D. in Computer Science pertaining to the area of Medical Imaging. He is a passionate educator and researcher. His areas of research include Computer Vision for Medical/Healthcare Applications, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Fractal Analysis and Big Data Analytics. He is one of the proud recipients of 21st Century Knowledge Initiative Award for carrying out INDO-US Collaborative research project in collaboration with University of North Florida. He is an active member of Asia Pacific Center of Analytics, APU. He is actively contributing for several referred journals as referee and editorial board member. He has got over 45 publications in Scopus, Web of Science and reputed peer-reviewed journals and as book chapters. He has participated and presented his research articles in several International Conferences.

Dr. Dewi Octaviani

Dewi completed her PhD in Computer Science at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. In her academic career, Dewi lectures in advanced database management systems, data mining, and data warehouse. Her current research focus is data mining and data visualization with an emphasis on predictive analytics and forecasting in different fields.

Dr. Murugananthan Velayutham

Dr. Murugananthan Velayutham completed Ph.D in Computer Science, major in Data mining and Data Warehousing from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, India. He has 20+ years of IT experience, both in academic and industry in India, Nigeria and Malaysia. He has guided and dynamically involved in academic research activities. He has published more than 20+ research papers in reputed International and National Journals which are indexed in Scopus, Web of Science and peer-reviewed journals. He has presented nearly 15+ research papers in International and National Conference proceedings and has published 3 monographs. He has also received best paper award, best presenter award during conferences and has been actively involved in many faculty development and research programs.

Dr. Preethi Subramanian

Professional academic qualifications in Information Technology and Business Administration with research experience in Telecommunication Data Analytics and Market Research. Skilled in Business Intelligence and Solutions Design for business problems and use cases. Certified in data science by Microsoft, Big Data University, SAS, CFTE and Tableau. Research member of 2 RDIGs at APU and 1 external grant with XMUM. Mentor student(s) to win prizes for FYP posters and business pitching challenge competitions. Secured a Silver award in the International Invention and Innovative Competition (InIIC) 2020 with her research team and published an e-book chapter. Supervises several Post graduate students in the field of Data Science and Business Analytics and thoroughly enjoys being an educator every day. As an Academic Leader, organizes and leads the team in curriculum enhancement, creating digital learning content, administration, corporate training, and industry collaborations with partner organizations.

Mafas Raheem

Mafas is an academic specialized in the field of Data Science & Business Analytics with nearly 16 years of academic & industry experience. He holds an MSc in Data Science & Business Analytics and a Master of Business Administration degree and reading his PhD in the area of Machine Learning/Text analytics. Currently, he works as an academic at the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation, Malaysia. His research areas are business intelligence, visual analytics, predictive analytics, text analytics & sentiment analysis in various domains. He has published a significant number of journal articles in the area of data analytics and machine learning. He mentored students to win many national and international data mining competitions.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Imran Medi

Imran is an associate professor within APU’s School of Computing, and programme leader for the MSc Data Science and Business Analytics programme. His current research interests lie in the area of computational intelligence, and evolutionary and biologically inspired algorithms, particularly in the area of health.

Mohamad Firdaus Che Abdul Rani

Firdaus holds the position of Senior Lecturer at APU’s School of Computing and serves as the program leader for the BSc. (Hons) in Computer Science with a Specialism in Data Analytics. His current research focuses on Technology Enhanced Learning, specifically in the areas of Learning Analytics and Gamification in Education.
